This has been my experience the last couple of years as well. The industry is in a deep navel-gazing spiral. Most attempts at making it fun (games, etc) feel like thinly disguised pump and dump schemes. Uninspired, or inspired by greed.
Crypto can only succeed when it offers a better way to do something. “Store of value,” for now, seems to have succeeded, but this is far from exciting.
What if there was a way for crypto to be the foundation for a new and better web protocol? One where instead of requests consisting of {GET server/resource} consisted of {GET resource/fee}. i.e. a content addressable internet (not unlike BitTorrent) that would replace the way we view content today?
yeah most smart contract devs I know do not use defi or anything on-chain at all.

Definitely interesting how content & narrative are becoming 1st class citizens thanks to llms.
Content is king. Money is lubricant.
We are replacing the legacy stock market by bringing stocks onchain. Maybe we are up to your taste :) sailingprotocol.org
Nice, we need onchain stocks to grow more compared to other RWAs, hopefully breaks out soon.
I can so much relate to this. Yes, you aren't alone on this bucket Peteris.
Thanks for flagging Dipesh!!
Genuinely think the best way to move forward is to keep leveling about where we are.
